The Mura is one of the last significantly preserved lowland rivers, especially in its lower course. Local authorities have managed to recognize the value of this river, in terms of nature and eco-tourism, so it is slowly being restored into old mills, and scaffolding, or boats on the Mura have been running almost continuously for more than a century.
The newly renovated promenade that stretches through a large part of the town of Mursko Središće allows tourists to walk, ride a bike and many other activities. In Mursko Središće, as part of the promenade, you can find a harbor with an amphitheater. During the summer, various events are held in that area, the most famous of which is the Summer along the Mura.
